Teaching Python

There are interesting things going on in the world of Communication Science. More and more people are working with huge datasets, and more and more students are eager to learn automated approaches to content analysis. And accordingly, this is slowly but steadily becoming a bigger part of my teaching. One option for these tasks is using the programming language Python. I’m still busy designing a course on this for the future, but right now, for the thesis students I supervise, we can use this Etherpad for sharing some useful code-snippets.

Guest lecture on #bigdata

On October 15, I gave a short guest lecture on some examples of how #bigdata (yes, I know, it’s not a very well-defined term…) can be used in Communication Science. Susanne Baumgartner invited me to give a short talk during her Master Elective The Blind Spot: Tracking Young Media Users.
